Kitchen Museum

A group of us went to visit the Museo de la Cocina Mexicana down at the Zócalo. It was 10 pesos to get in, or 40 pesos to have a "cooking lesson" at the end. We went the "Cooking Lesson" route. So we toured the museum, run by Herdez -- the #1 food company in Mexico. It detailed the evolution of the Mexican kitchen from the Aztecas to the modern kitchen. At the end, we had a fellow come and tell us how awesome beans are, how there are 1500 varieties of beans, and that you should eat beans with every meal. Then we each had a bean and tuna dumpling. The end. The dumpling was good, but not an extra 30 pesos good. And we didn't learn how to make them or anything.
We visited the museum library and drooled over lots of yummy Mexican food and wrote down ISBNs for books we wanted to buy later.
Because the Metropolitan Cathedral is nearby, there was a mall of religious stuff. I like how the Ascending Lord seem to be recommending this dentist.
Looking out over the Templo Mayor from a huge bookstore.

We had parked at a place that serves a bookstore and a restaurant. The sign says that you pay half price if you get your ticket validated, and we had it validated at the associated bookstore. Of course, when we went to pay, after 5 hours of parking, the attendant was all, "Oh, no, it's 30 pesos/hour for you -- 15 pesos is if you get it validated at the restaurant." Uh-huh. I bet if we had it validated at the restaurant, they would have said it needed to be stamped at the bookstore. There was much heated discussion about the price of parking. All in all a good visit with good friends.
