Yucatan: Mérida

We flew into Mérida, the capital of Yucatan State. It was 70 degrees at noon in Mexico City when we left and 100 degrees in the Yucatan. This made it quite difficult to motivate oneself to walk around and see stuff.
Street vendor girls taking a rest.
Since the heat was so unbearable, rather than walk around, we hired a calesa -- a horse and carraige to take us around.

Palm Sunday in front of the main cathedral, vendors sold incredible detailed woven palm things. Though this woman is standing on the street, and Nevarra is on the curb above her, Nevarra is still at least a head taller than this little Maya woman.
